All staff positions at the Women's Centre are employed by the Mokami Status of Women Council (MSWC). Our work is guided by feminist theory and principles.

This position is funded under the Government of Canada Summer Jobs.

To be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs positions, applicants must be:
•Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
•Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
•Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Position Scope:
The Program Coordinator Assistant position is an 8 week summer position reporting directly to the MSWC Program Coordinator. The successful applicant will help to develop and deliver feminist and trauma-informed programs and will work collaboratively with all staff, volunteers and members of the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Provide support to the MSWC Program Coordinator and Supportive Living Program Social Worker.
•Assist with daily operations the women's center including preparing and facilitating programming.
•Network and partner with community organizations that will strengthen and build the center to a greater capacity.
•Represent MSWC at community events
•Attend to needs of drop-in clients and residents
•Conduct research for new programming opportunities
•Complete data entry for program statistics
•Provide system navigation support to community members
•Other related duties at the discretion of the MSWC Program Coordinator, Social Worker or Executive Director

Relevant Fields of Study/Experience:
Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Community Development, Gender Studies

Skills and Knowledge:
•Knowledge of MSWC programming
•Cooperative, friendly and helpful attitude
•Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
•Knowledge and understanding of feminist principles and trauma-informed practice
•Knowledge of gender equity and community issues as they relate to women and gender diverse individuals
•Knowledge of cultural humility and indigenous cultures and understanding of the impact of intergenerational trauma
•Understanding of systemic barriers and knowledge of community resources
•Cultural humility and understanding
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•Excellent computer skills
•Understanding of confidentiality practices and ethical workplace conduct

Hours of Work:
35 hours/Week for 8 Weeks
General office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am — 4:00 pm.
Some evenings and weekends required.

Compensation:
Rate of pay will be $16/hour for a total of 280 hours.

Start Date:
Start date is July 4, 2023.
